YOUR TRUE IDENTITY

First of all, you are His.

It all starts and ends there. It's the only thing in this world that you can truly hang your hat on because it's the only thing that will never, ever change.

We can claim to be girlfriends and wives and friends and teachers and lawyers and writers -- but those things can change.

Relationships end. Fall outs happen. Companies get acquired and we get downsized. Health fails and accidents happen. Priorities change.

When we let earthly labels define us, we set ourselves up for disappointment. Why? Because anything the world can offer us as means to define our identities can be stripped away by things outside our control.

But when we let God define us? When we give into the fact that the only thing that defines us is being His prized possession? We set ourselves up for the truest and purest form of freedom there is.

When we shirk off the labels of this world and put on the truth of who God says we are, we unlock the person who we made to be. And we don't have to strive or earn or feel pressure to produce. We just get to lean into who our Creator created us to be.

You are made in God's image, intentionally made by God Himself.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

// Genesis 1:27

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.

// Jeremiah 1:5

You are fully known, fully loved and fully reconciled with God.

For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

// Romans 5:6-11

You are royal, chosen and a prized possession of God.

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

// 1 Peter 2:9

You are unable to do, say, think or feel anything that could ever disqualify you or separate you from God's love.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

// Romans 8:35-39

You were created with a purpose; to do good for His kingdom.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

// Ephesians 2:10

You are His, sister.

And you can live out the implications of that reality each and every day.
